Where co-operation and success go hand-in-hand

History

Phoenix Acro Acrobatic Gymnastics Club was formed in 1993 by Chris Hopper and Phil Johns. Our first regular training venue was Copnor Middle School.

However, by September 1993, the need for a larger venue was satisfied by a move to Isambard Brunel Junior School (Directions). From starting with no equipment and only three gymnasts the early years saw a rapid expansion in numbers and the purchase of a large amount of our own equipment. This growth has continued to the present day and the equipment we own now includes a full floor area, carbon fibre tumble strip, a double mini-trampoline together with overhead rigs and spotting platform.

The club has only been able to expand this quickly thanks to the efforts of many people on fundraising and grants from the Foundation for Sport and the Arts.

From beginning at the very lowest level our acrobats now regularly take part and achieve success at all levels from interclub competitions, through county, regional and national competitions. (Latest Results)
